Try this veg pizza once at home, it will beat all the pizzas you had in dominos pizza and pizza hut. If you follow everything in the recipe correctly, it will turn out great. This pizza recipe is a very basic vegetarian pizza recipe, You can use any of your favorite toppings for this veg pizza recipe. I use to make pizza from ready-made pizza bread bought from stores but once after I started making bread at home I find that homemade pizza bread is much better than the bread that I bought from stores so I make the pizza base also at home now.
Vegetable pizza can be served with your choice of toppings as a snack. In this veg pizza recipe, I used only onions and capsicums and I didn’t use any other veggies. If you like, you can add any of your favorite veggies. For the sauce, I used dried basil and oregano, if you want you can also use fresh basil and oregano. I made the Pizza bread from all purpose flour or maida, you can also use wheat flour but using wheat flour will make the pizza base a little dense.

Toppings for 2 medium sized pizzas
Making the vegetarian pizza base
First, dissolve the sugar in warm water and then add dry active yeast to it.
Stir it well and keep it aside for about 10 to 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, take a bowl with a cup of flour and salt. And also add olive oil and mix well.
After 10 to 15 minutes, the yeast will double and you can see a frothy layer on top.
Next, add the frothy yeast mixture to the flour, mix well using a whisk or wooden spoon.
Next, add another cup of flour and keep on stirring.
The mixture will turn sticky.
Next, add the last cup of flour and continue stirring.
The dough will leave the sides of the bowl but still, it will be sticky.
Next, start kneading the dough with hand, dust with some flour to prevent sticking. The dough should be soft and elastic, apply some olive oil to the dough all around.
Keep the dough in a large bowl, and cover loosely with a kitchen napkin or towel for 1.5 to 2 hours.
After 2 hours, the dough has beautifully risen and doubled up to what you see in the picture below.
I planned to make the pizza the next day, so I tightly wrapped the dough with a cling film and kept in the fridge. If you plan to make the pizza right away then start flattening and rolling the dough.
Next morning remove the pizza from the fridge and keep the dough at room temperature for about 45 minutes.
Making the tomato pizza sauce
Chop the tomatoes directly or blanch them and then chop the tomatoes, or you can use tomato puree.
Next, take a pan and heat olive oil and then add garlic, and fry the garlic for a minute.
Next, add the tomatoes and let the tomatoes cook for about 5 minutes. Stir well.
Meanwhile, slice the olives, capsicums, and onions.
Instead of sauteeing the veggies, I marinated them with olive oil, basil and oregano for 15 minutes.
After the tomatoes are softened, add the herbs, salt, and ground or crushed black pepper.
Mix well and cook for few more minutes.
The pizza sauce is now ready.
Assembling the vegetarian pizza
First, preheat the oven to 200 degrees c and then grease the baking pan with olive oil and then dust some all purpose flour or cornmeal or semolina.
Take degree's ball from the dough, I made 3 medium sized pizzas from the dough or you can make extra large pizza with the whole dough.
Flatten the dough into a disk and start rolling the dough.
Then place the pizza base in a baking pan and brush the surface with olive oil.
Next, spread the tomato pizza sauce.
Next, top with the veggies and olives.
Next, sprinkle grated mozarella cheese or pizza cheese.
Bake the pizza in the oven at 200 degrees c for about 10 to 15 minutes, till the base turns golden brown and the cheese melts.
The veg pizza is now ready.
Serve the veg pizza immediately with tomato ketchup and herbs.
