Butter rice or Makhani Chawal is a tasty and delicious rice dish variety in the Indian cuisine.
First, rinse basmati rice in running water and then soak the rice for about 30 minutes in enough water. Then drain and keep aside.
In a pan, keeping flame to a low add 2 tsp white or salted butter.
When the butter almost melts, add tej patta, cinnamon, cloves and green cardamoms.
Saute the cashews on a low flame.
Saute until cashews turn golden in color, You can also skip cashews.
Next, add water depending on the quality of rice used.
Next, add salt as required.
Stir well and check the taste of water, it should taste little salty.
Next, cover with a lid and simmer butter rice on a low flame till the rice cooks well and all the water is absorbed.
After cooking, remove the lid.
Serve the butter rice garnishing with some mint or coriander leaves with aloo paneer, mushroom curry, chana dal etc.,
