Potato fry recipe
- Cubed potatoes-1 cup.
- Curry leaves or mint leaves-1 sprig.
- Garlic cloves chopped or crushed-1 to 2.
- Mustard-1/4 tsp.
- Cumin-1/2 tsp.
- Urad dal-1/2 tsp.
- Pinch of Hing.
- Turmeric- a generous pinch.
- Red chilli powder-1/2 tsp.
- Little garam masala or sambar powder.
- Oil as required.
- Salt as required.
How to make Potato fry
Take a pan heat it with oil, then add mustard, cumin and urad dal to it. When the urad dal gets lightly roasted next add red chilli powder to it. And then add garlic and curry leaves to it. If you don’t have curry leaves, you can go with mint leaves.
Next, add the chopped potatoes and turmeric powder.
Fry this for about 3 to 4 mins.
Lower or simmer the flame and cook it covered until the potatoes become soft. If you need you can sprinkle some water on it and cook.
Then add some red chilli powder and garam masala to it.
Stir it well and fry for few more minutes until the potatoes blend well with the red chilli powder.
Serve this potato dish hot with rice and rasam.
