Oyakodon Recipe | Japanese Chicken and Egg Rice Bowl: Oyakodon, a super popular both at your homes and restaurants. Here is how to cook the ever delicious Japanese food. It is one of the favorite chicken recipes in Japan.
- Dashi – 1 cup
- Soy Sauce – 1 tbsp
- Dry Sake – 2 tbsp
- Sugar – 1 tbsp
- Onion – 1 large (Sliced)
- Chicken thighs – 12 ounce (Boneless)
- Scallions – 3 sliced
- Eggs – 3 to 4
Take a pan and pour 1 cup of dashi stock into it. Let the dashi gets heated.
Then add a tablespoon of soy sauce. Mix it with Dashi.
Now add a tablespoon of dry sake and let it get mixed with the dashi.
Add a tablespoon of sugar.
Let the mixture to boil. Put it on a medium flame and let it boil. When the liquid is simmering, add a sliced onion into it. Let it cook until the onions become soft.
Let the onions gets cooked about five minutes.
Once the onion gets cooked, add 2 ounces of boneless, skinless chicken thighs. Let the chicken simmer and once the chicken is cooked through, season the mixture with salt and let it to moisture.
Reduce the heat to low flame and sprinkle two sliced scallions and mix them together.
Then take two eggs and lightly beat the egg with the chopstick.
Drizzle the eggs directly into the liquid using the chopsticks. Do not mix the eggs with the liquid. Let it get cooked.
Cover the pan and cook the eggs for 3 minutes in a medium-firm. Once the egg gets cooked, uncover the pan and shake the egg and make sure that the egg is loose.
Take a bowl of cooked rice and serve the mixture on top of it. The liquid should settle into the rice, flavoring the entire bowl.
Make room for an extra yolk in the middle. It will add an additional flavor to the dish.
Sprinkle a sliced scallions over the top.
To give an extra flavor, sprinkle some Japanese chili powder on the top. Delicious Oyakodon is ready to be served.
