Aloo Paratha Recipe | How to prepare Aloo Paratha: Aloo paratha is a famous North Indian recipe made with potato and wheat flour. It is served hot with yogurt and pickle. The taste remains unique and stays on the top of all the Potato Recipes. Here is how to cook the tasty Aloo Paratha recipe:
Aloo Paratha Recipe:
- Potatoes – 3 to 4 medium (Boiled)
- Green chilies – 1 to 2 chopped
- Red chili powder – 1/2 tsp
- Garam Masala Powder – 1/2 tsp
- Amchur – 1 tsp
- Coriander Leaves – 2 to 3 tsp finely chopped (Optional)
- Salt – As required
- Oil or Ghee – As required
- Wheat Flour – 2 cups
- Water – For Kneading
- Yogurt – To Serve
- Mango or Lemon Pickle – To Serve
How to prepare Aloo Paratha:
Take 4 potatoes and clean them with water. Then boil the potatoes until they are cooked in a pressure cooker or a pot.
Peel the layer of the potato and mash them with a potato masher.
Then add the Garam masala, Green chilies, Red chili powder, dry mango powder/Amchur, and salt into the mashed potatoes.
Mix them all together and adjust the taste if needed. You can add even more spice to it if you are a spice lover. If you wish to add the onions, then chop the onions into fine pieces. Set it aside.
In another bowl, take 2 cups of wheat flour and add salt and oil to it. Add water and knead them to a smooth soft dough. Set it aside for 30 to 45 minutes to make it even softer.
Now pinch a medium sized ball from the dough and roll them on a plate. Flatten it and add the potato stuffing in the center of it.
Take the edges and pleat them to the center. It will cover the potato stuffing in it.
The pleats should be joined well. There should be no gap in it. Then press the center of the pleat.
Take a pinch of flour and sprinkle it over and roll this to the same size as that of a roti.
In a hot Tawa, place the rolled paratha. Make sure you cook them on a hot Tawa. When the base is partly cooked, flip the paratha and add ghee or oil to it.
Flip the paratha again and apply the ghee or oil again in this base.
Cook until both the layers is done. They should be soft and crispy as well.
Hot and tasty Aloo paratha is ready. Serve it hot with Yogurt or pickle.
