Pav Bhaji Recipe | How to Prepare Pav Bhaji: Indians are fond of Pav Bhaji. Here is how to cook this tasty dish in your home.

Pav Bhaji Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • Cauliflower – 1 cup chopped
  • Potato – 2 medium or 4 small
  • Capsicum (Bell Pepper) – 1/2 cup chopped
  • Green peas – 1/2 to 3/4 cup
  • Butter or Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Onion – 1¬†cup chopped
  • Green Chili – 1 optional
  • Red Chilli powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Turmeric – 1/4 tsp
  • Pav Bhaji Masala powder – 3/4 to 1 tsp
  • Ginger Garlic paste – 1 tsp
  • Tomato – 2 medium sized
  • Kasuri Methi – 1/4 tsp
  • Additional Butter for Pav
  • Pav (Buns) – 4 to 6
  • Lemon wedges
  • Coriander Leaves

Pav Bhaji Preparation:

Take the potatoes, cauliflower, peas in a pressure cooker and cook them on a medium flame for 2 to 3 whistles. Carrot is optional, You can also use carrot if you want to. Open the lid after the pressure goes off. The vegetables should be cooked softly.

Take a non-stick pan and add oil to it. Then add chopped onions to the heated oil.

Fry the onions until they turn golden in colour. Add ginger garlic paste and fry them until the raw smell goes off.

Add capsicum (Bell Pepper) and fry it for 2 to 3 minutes.

Then add the chopped tomato and fry them until they turn mushy.

Add chilli powder, turmeric, Pav bhaji masala powder and salt to the mixture.

Mix them and fry it for 2 to 3 minutes.

Now mash the boiled veggies and add them to the mixture in the pan.

Once they are mixed, add water to it and mix them. Now add Kasuri Methi, this adds good taste to it.

Turn the stove to low flame and allow the mixture to heat at a low simmer to bring out the flavour of masala. One it reaches the desired consistency, take the chopped coriander leaves and add it to the mixture. Turn off the stove.

Cut the pav horizontally from one end leaving the other edge intact. Heat butter in a separate pan and toast the Pav in it. You can add masala to the Pav to make it spicy.

Take coriander leaves, onions and lemon wedges and garnish the mixture. Top the Bhaji with some butter on it. Serve hot with some onions along with the Pav.
